It is said that, “A pen is mightier than a sword” and I with my mightier pen am going to pen down my views on the topic “strength is life, weakness is death”.
Man is a social animal, but what makes it different from the other animals? It is our ability to think, our ability to make decisions and our curiosity to know the things. Human have both the qualities of an angel and a beast and human have their strengths and weaknesses and regarding strength I can quote Mahatma Gandhi “strength does not come from physical capacity; it comes from an indomitable will”.
A person can lead a healthy and happy life only if he is strong not only physically but also mentally, emotionally, spiritually and psychologically because “strength is life, weakness is death”.
Let me quote an example regarding “strength is life, weakness is death”. The loin is the king of the jungle and master of his own domain and his own destiny. Do you know why? Because he is strong and all other weak creatures fall prey to the loin as the lion is the mighty predator. Same is the case with the human. Those who are strong can live a healthy and a happy life. Now the question is that, who is strong? And how the strength can be acquired?
“A strong person is not the one who does not cry. A strong person is one who cries and shed tears for a moment, gets up and fights again”. And now another question is that, how strength and growth can be acquired?
“Strength and growth comes through, Continuous efforts and struggle”.
“Strength does not come from what you can do; it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you could not”. If you want strength then be confident, stay focused and believe in your capabilities to acquire the strength you need not to have strong muscles because
“The true strength lies in the soul and spirit and not in the muscles” real strength comes with our strong will and our determination to succeed. And strength and confidence will come only when our courage to succeed is greater than our fear of failure and this strength will ultimately lead to a healthy and a happy life. It will not be an exaggeration to say that a person who is strong is happy and leads a peaceful and comfortable life.
Four simple rules for a healthy life are:
· Don’t give up = Never back down.
· Don’t be too emotional = have faith.
· Don’t be a grown up = stay as youthful as a kid.
· Don’t make things complicated = keep it simple.
In short these four rules of happy life can be followed only if a person has strength as it is “strength is life”. And it is also said that “weakness is death”. The greatest sin is to consider yourself weak and weakness is not better than death. Weakness in any dimension or form physical, mental, social, emotional, psychological or spiritual is a sin. It is known fact that the strong use to outshine the weak and weakness is nothing but lack of confidence, lack of self belief, lack of faith in your capabilities, lack of determination and lack of strong will power and according to Albert Einstein “weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character”. It is always appreciable to die than to live like a coward and weak and two things indicate our weaknesses;
One - to be silent, when it is proper time to speak.
Two – to speak when it is proper time to be silent.
And weakness comes with negative thought and a negative thinker sees difficulty in every opportunity, a positive thinker sees an opportunity in every difficulty. Negativity ultimately leads to death; death of happiness, joy, love, positivity and it is just a negative attitude which promotes anger and anger or rude behavior is sign of weakness and which ultimately leads to the final end i.e. the death. Kindness should not be confused with weakness as it is the greatest strength in fact
“Kindness is a golden chain through which the society is bound together” one should be confident and should try to achieve our goals and one should never let anyone to make us feel inferior as it is said that “no one can make you feel inferior until you allow them”. Be strong and startup because the journey of ten thousand miles starts with the single step. I remember the story of the rabbit and the tortoise, in which the tortoise wins the race. And the rabbit looses even after having much faster speed of running. The moral of the story is ‘slow and steady wins the race.’
Even the persons who are disabled in any form shouldn’t feel that they are weak because the disabled are actually not disabled they are differently able. Here I would like to quote an example of Helen Keller who became blind and deaf in just 18 months after her birth. Even then she learnt to read and write and wrote a very famous book “The story of my life”. Do you know why she was able to learn even after her disabilities, this is because she chooses not to kneel down in front of her faith and she chooses to struggle and this became possible only because of her strong will power and firm determination and her strength. As it is said that strength is life, and weakness is death .I would like to quote an example of Thomas Alva Edison, the inventor of electric bulb who was so strong as a person that his laboratory caught fire 10000 times no doubt when his laboratory caught fire he must be heartbroken but it is said that a person with a broken heart and a smiling face shows how strong he as an individual is. Finally he succeeded to invent an electric bulb and his name became immortal in the books of history as an inventor of an electric bulb. It is said that success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. One can lead a healthy and happy life only if one is morally strong and knows how to handle the stress and strain of life as “life is not about waiting for the storm to pass; it is learning to dance to rain. And the fact is that every creature in this world either small or big, from simplest to the most complex holds its special significance in this world. It is also true that everyone in this world has knowledge and wisdom and it is also a known fact that that no one knows everything but everybody knows something. So one should try to learn as much as we can from every one and anyone. And one should surround ourselves with the people having positive thinking. One should try to serve humanity as much as we can as serving humanity is a greatest religion and it is said that “Humanity is an ocean, if few drops of an ocean is dirty the ocean will not become dirty”.
Real strength lies in positive attitude and positivity is the source of all happiness. I would like to quote an example here of the sea waves or the continuous flow of water which is responsible for the breakdown of huge rocks into small pebbles and do you why this is not because of the fact the water is strong or the powerful but it is because of the fact the continuous flow of water attacked the huge rocks continuously and with perseverance and this leads to the breakdown of huge rocks even into small pebbles. In short I can say that strength comes with continuation and perseverance it is said that “ practice makes the man perfect’’, and with perfection comes confidence and belief in personal abilities and with confidence comes self reliance and a person can be self reliant only if he has strength and as already said ‘strength is life and weakness is death. Life is full of ups and downs a person who is strong and has strength will not kneel down in front of the circumstances and will choose to fight back. Every now and then we come across the news of suicide committed by the students for not getting good marks and, farmers committing suicide for not paying the debts of the landlords. Do you know why? This is because they are morally weak. Even they know that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
They take this extreme step because they do not have the courage to fight back. Life is full of ups and downs and time is not always the same happiness and sorrows are the indispensible part of life but the fact is that the person who fights with the circumstances with courage is actually strong. We have to live like a winner, a winner has no weakness and if you sometimes feel that you cannot do great things, you do simple things in a great way. It is said that “take care of the small things and the big will take care themselves”
Put up your heart and soul completely in whatever task you are doing and success will be at your door, “Do not wait for opportunity if opportunity does not knock, build a door”. We all have some hidden talent and we have to recognize that and overcome our weaknesses and emerged as a winner. According to Shiv Khera “winners donot do different things, they do the things differently”. So be strong as “strength is life, weakness is death”.
So we have to live the life full of positive thoughts and positive people, and should try to be in a good company. As the man is known by the company he keeps and sometimes when we feel that we are weak and give up without even trying then I would like to quote that “Giving up does not mean you are weak it means that you are strong enough to let go”. Negativity can knock the door but it does not means that we have to allow it in. Negativity makes a person think in a pessimistic way and ultimately makes the person feel weak. And sometimes weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character and that ultimately leads to decline. So be strong and live a peaceful life because, according to a French proverb “when man find no peace within himself, it is useless to seek it elsewhere”. And we can live a life only if we have contentment that is santosh and that will come only when we are capable to struggle with all odds of life and that is possible when we have strength.
With strength come self reliance, confidence, contentment and happiness. According to swami Vivekananda arise, awake and stop not till the goal is achieved and one can focused on the goal only if we have the strength and achieve the goal as strength is life, weakness is death. I would like to quote an example
Of the father of the nation mahatma Gandhi he was non violent by nature and taught this world about satya and ahinsa that is truth and non violence. Satyagrah and non cooperation movement and all the other non violent protest forced the British army to kneel down in front of the satyagrahis. The British army was fully modern and with weapons and was in power but still it became helpless in front of the satyagrahis and this is because of indomitable will and determination and he was strong from his soul and his inner being. The Britishers felt weak in front of the Indians and ultimately attained freedom and Mahatma Gandhi gave the concept of forgiving and said that “forgiving is the attribute of the strong and the weak can never forgive”.
